With utmost pride, ESI Spa can state that this solar PV plant, established in 2016, electrified 550 households in the main village of Kitobo Island, in Lake Victoria (Uganda) with a 228 kWp solar PV plant generation mini-grid, with 500 KWh storage.

The solar PV plant provides access to a reliable, affordable and green electricity supply.

We replaced diesel and petrol generators and thanks to it the annual CO2 emissions are reduced by 80 tons.

It not only can supply a stable electricity power to 1.500 people and 50 local businesses, but thanks to an innovative business model that focus on community empowerment and assure the business profitability, it can guarantee along-term sustainability with technology, community inclusion and economic empowerment.

After only one year we have recorded that such solar PV plant has produced 394.7 MWh per year, has created permanent job for locals.

This kind of solar PV plant has an high replicability & scalability of the business model.
