811 kWp

In 2015 ESI SpA built a photovoltaic plant of 811 kWp in Syracuse by installing photovoltaic panels on canopies for the vehicle stalls existing in the parking lot at the Syracuse Court.

The project is an example for interventions to support the production of energy from renewable sources as part of the efficiency of buildings and public utilities, and is one of the interventions planned within the "Syracuse smart city" project.

There are numerous benefits for the Municipality of Syracuse deriving from this innovative system. The advantages come not only from the savings on the cost of the service, but also from the production of energy. The plant, in fact, will produce more energy than the court's needs, reducing the annual costs on the electricity bill of the Municipality of Syracuse.

In addition, CO2 emissions into the atmosphere have been reduced. The energy equivalent to that produced annually by this plant, of about 755 MWh per year, is produced by burning 500 tons of oil that emit significant quantities of CO2 into the atmosphere, which would require hundreds of trees to be disposed of.
